  • Great pics of the family. My wife and I have two kids on the spectrum so we know what you go through, daily. My boys, Michael and Jack, are 6 and 5, respectively.

We recently created a new product to help with social delays. Take a look at it and give us some feedback.

Good luck to you and your kids.

  • What a beautiful family! I noticed that you had left a comment on a blog and had asked where to find play groups. I’m not sure about play groups, but I’m involved with a mother’s group called MOPs- Mothers of Preschoolers. I meet with other moms while our children are cared for by volunteers at my church. Infants come in with their moms. You may want to see if your area has a MOPs group. You may be able to find one nearby, because MOPs is an International organization. I have a link to the MOPs website on my blog page- God’s Shining Stars. You can find it on godsshiningstars.blogspot.com. I hope that this is helpful. Blessings!

  • Hi Joy
I was reading your blog really enjoyed your writing style and honest approach. Your halloween pixs look real cute. I thought that I would reach out since you are in our speech and OT product world and are probably looking for new products that weren’t made in the 70’s! First, a proper introduction, My name is Tom from Goosie Cards. We developed the first and only customizable flash card on the market. You are able to upload your own photos and text and we create high quality, commercial laminated flash cards. If you have ever used Snapfish or Shutterfly, you will be right at home making Goosie Cards.
Not that I’m trying to sell you, but everytime we work with a school or meet parents at walks, they always tell us “I wish I heard about you a month ago!” Since you have such a great readership, I wanted to make you aware of who we are and what you can do with our cards. We have had such a response from the autistic community that we created a full curriculum for schools and offer big discounts for anyone that is effected. We support all the Autism Speaks walks in our area (NJ/NY) and have participated in gift baskets that local chapters have organized all over the country. The response from parents has been unbelievable and we are so proud that we offer a product that helps their children.

I would love to send you some custom cards if you would like to check them out and use them in the real world. The only thing I ask is if you love them to help spread the word.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Keep up the amazing work!
    Best Regards,
    Tom

  • Hello Joy,
I have been reading your blog for sometime now and wanted to share some information that might be helpful to you and your family. The company that I work for, b-Calm, developed an AudioSedation technology for children and adults with Autism. Environmental noises can be very painful to these people, this is what causes some of the “lashing out” of many children. The b-Calm system blocks out these noises allowing the user to take control of the environment around them.
What the b-Calm unit is an mp3 player preloaded with 4 AudioSedation tracks. These are what allows the user to take control of the environment. They are able to put the headset on and find a relaxing environment.
I’m not sure if you would be interested in a product like this but I discussed it with my coworkers and we will send you a free unit if you will do a product review on your blog or write one for our blog.
Our site is http://www.b-calmsound.com You will be able to find more information and testimonials of those who have used this product.
I’m sorry I had to write this in a comment, I was unable to find your e-mail or contact information.

    Sincerely,

    Abby
